J. Cedar Seeger
"Two days after he was born, he knew he loved rock 'n roll," bouncing across the West playing rock, gypsy folk and bluegrass. Thee Sixpence (pre-Strawberry Alarm Clock), Fertile Crescent (bluegrass/Americana), Bodacious, SF 1969 (Big Band Funk), Jesse Barrish (hit song writer and player) to name a few along the trail.
He found himself at Black Bear Ranch, a wilderness commune in Siskiyou County. He put down roots in Salmon River; fought forest fires, planted trees, grew his family, built a home from trees he logged and milled on his ranch. He began writing musical tales inspired by his unique life experience or a broad reflection of the times and kept gigging with friends: The Hills Bros, Loose Gravel, The Nightcrawlers.
He was drawn to a citrus grove nestled in the oak woodlands of Putah Creek, developed another ranch and tree growing business, while continuing to write, sing and play his way thru the challenges & opportunities of life. He's still playing, writing, and gigging with friends and musical cohorts.
Cedar has two albums Back Up the Canyon and Lucky Stars that are a sampling of his original songs, showcasing his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, producer / arranger and sing writer. His wry humor, unique lyrics, & heartfelt or "tongue in cheek" tales embrace multiple musical genres as his skills continue to bloom. He is posting new singles in a quasi-timely fashion - so stay tuned!!
He is grateful to the other players who helped make these lyrical dreams in his head a magic reality. Special thanks for recording to Steve O'Neill at Foxtail Sound, Toby Seeger at Cortex Audio, Lincoln Else for photos, Sarah Hugdahl and Tristen Berlund for art work, Galena and MH for all the support and encouragement.
